2013

The start of 2013 is great because I got to see all of my friends again and seeing new people come into room12 as a senior.

 It has been a great start for the year because I am learning new things and I am getting better at my art work. Art is a big thing to me because I like art and it is a fun activity.

 Art is not just the big thing that are happening in 2013. The other big thing is that I am a year 6 that means it is my last year at Vardon school. My goals for this year is to try my best at Vardon .

In room12 we have been doing our two truths and one false. here is my two thruths and one false.

I have a dog
I like meat
My favourite colour is green.

Farm

I enjoyed going to the farm because we got to taste milk and to learn more about cows and dairy farming.  One of the interesting things was sitting on cow poo because it was my first time. Gumboot throwing was interesting because the gumboots went so high then it came straight down.One of the best things was staying on the farm because it was fun seeing all the cows and the tractors.

Swim safe

 Room 12 have been learning how to swim and to survive in water.
I have enjoyed swim safe because I have learnt how to swim by doing breaststroke. But the challenging thing was doing the kicking and laps.Besides that I have enjoyed swim safe. Here is a photopeach of team 12 at swim safe.

   

Paired writting

I am a tutor and it has been a wonderful time.With my buddy I have been seeing my buddy improving and coming up with new ideas and trying his best.The two comments I gave my buddy was seeing his own mistakes and writing more and more and more.The hardest thing for me is my buddy eating his apple because it waste time.

Maori language week

Last week was Maori language week. Maori language week is when we all learn Maori. Room12 learnt a Maori body song. After room12 learnt the body song we taught the song to room4. When we showed room4 they joined in and sang with us. Room4 was enjoying the song. When it was the afternoon some of room12 people went to the hall to show us the haka. It was awesome because the haka was a war dance and the boys was really scary at it. Even I got scared of them.

Speeches

I  need to improve on speaking clearly and not to go to fast
I enjoyed learning new things I when was researching my speech. I liked how I tried when I was really nervous.

I liked Justice's speech on fossils because it was interesting and I learnt a lot

 I am looking forward to art, maths and sports

MATHS

In room12 we are doing maths like 14 + ? =61.To solve these problems you need to jump a tidy number on a number line then jump back a small number. I will show you some problems and the strategies.                                                                                                                                     

 15 + 57 =72.

 So I started from 15 then I jump in tens like 15,25,35,45,55,65,75 so that is 60 jumps.then what I did is a minus 3 so that will be 57.

Warm and cool colours

This term room12 has been learning about warm and cold colours for are desk mats. The colours that I used is:

• Green



• blue



• orange

My favourite family gruop is cold because I like to be cold and green is in the cold family so that's why a like cool colours. When team 12 did their learning logs we had to pick a colour family and I picked cold.

Athletics

On the 23 of November I did athletics, at athletics there was high jump, then 60 meters, then 200 meters then it was a first break. After the break I was very nervous, so nervous that the butterflies came after everything was done. The fastest class from the middle class and room7 won.

Then we vs the senior's and teachers and other's and we had to put the batten in between our legs and everyone won. At the end everyone went home.

Teacher

Mrs N teaches me a lot.

I like teachers because with out them I would be dumb.

Sometimes teaches get so angry at me because I talk to much.

I don't like school but a like my class because Mrs J helps me at maths and reading Mrs N helps me with most things.

Computers

Computers are the best because they are fast.

I love computers because there are cool as games like MW3.

computers are the things you should buy.

Maths

I am learning to solve subtraction problems by using
1. tidy numbers and
2. place value and splitting

92-49=43
1. 49+1=50 92-50=42+1
2. 92-40=52-9=43

84-38=46
1.38+2=40 84-40=44+2
84-30=54-4=46

I solved these problems by using place value and tidy tens.

Making slime

This is a sample of my recount writing.

Today on the 29th of August Mrs N made slime in room7. Why we made slime was because we were trying to achieve our goals.

First Mrs N put half of a cup of white corn flower into boiling steamy hot water. The water was in the sticky yucky stuff. Then she put blue food colouring into the bowl. It looked watery.
I cant wait to see what it looks like when its real slime.

Drama play

I can speak loud and speak clearly.

I need to work on standing still.
